Topeka and Indy Wrap Up
Written by Megan Meyer

Topeka, KS -- Heartland Park in Topeka, KS held the NHRA Lucas Oil Division 5 event on August 26th and 27th. After coming off a win at Cordova, Illinois, Randy Meyer was hoping to gain another victory and add to his points lead; however, he unfortunately lost first round.

Randy Meyer, competing against seven other top alcohol dragsters, earned the number three qualifying spot with a 5.42 second pass. Nevertheless, Meyer struggled on Saturday afternoon slowing down to a 5.59 as he was having trouble with the clutch resulting in his worst run of the weekend and a lost for the Randy Meyer Racing team.

The following weekend Meyer participated in the 57th-annual U.S. Nationals presented by Lucas Oil at Indianapolis, Indiana. Competition was fierce as Meyer only ended up qualifying 13th with a 5.52 at 259 mph. For first round, Meyer tried too hard to get the win as he immediately smoked the tires, giving his competitor an easy win.
