Second Win of the Year for Meyer!
Written by Megan Meyer

Cordova, Ill -- Congratulations to the Randy Meyer Racing team as they gained another win for the 2011 Lucas Oil Division 5 Series. The race was located in Cordova, Illinois at Cordova Dragway Park on August 12-14.

After having trouble at the previous race in Chicago with the Jegs All Stars race and the National Event, Randy Meyer spent the last 4 weeks coming up with a better tune-up combination, and headed to Cordova early to test on Thursday with his daughter, Megan Meyer who was racing super comp.

His new combination proved successful as testing went well, and it didn’t stop there. Randy quickly became number one qualifier with a 5.41 second pass at over 260 mph, showing they were on the right track to victory.

During eliminations on Saturday afternoon, Randy Meyer ran a 5.38 at 262 mph first round, beating Christine Chambless. For the semi-final round, Meyer ran the quickest; a 5.35 at 263 mph, setting new track records for speed and time!

Going into the finals, Randy ran another 5.38 second pass at 260 mph to take out the number 2 qualifier, Brandon Booher, who ran a 5.47 at 260 mph.

Megan also had good results testing her super comp on Thursday, but unfortunately due to a light sprinkle of rain immediately before she ran first round, she unfortunately broke out and lost.

With the dominating performance of the weekend capped off with the win, the Randy Meyer Racing team is very excited to head to Brainerd, Minnesota with their new tune-up for the NHRA National Event this upcoming weekend.

The team would like to thank their sponsors for their time, consideration, and supporting efforts they put forth this team through the good runs and the bad runs.
